I know it is hard to always say I have to go home and feed the dogs but I usually have to go let them out anyway.
I have always fed the dogs in the evening. I would have them in the kitchen with me all day while my husband was at work then I would put them in their crates to feed them when I was ready to start dinner. I felt that way they were satisfied and I could enjoy my dinner without anyone begging at the table or my husband complaining about them. Plus if their stomaches were full I did not have to feel guilty that they are smelling my dinner and feeling neglected. If our dogs are fat it is usually our own guilty trip making them that way. We feel guilty because we are having steak and they are having dog food or we did not spend enough time with them so we give them a cookie to make us feel better.
