Hi list, I wrote or called AKC after I read that a dog must be chipped in his country of origin. I asked if there were any other accepted means of identification. Such as DNA..they had just started to pitch for all breeding animals to be marked (DNA). In my opinion DNA is the only identification that can't be altered. I have had dogs chipped and tattooed...I prefer DNA. I have had dogs whose chips have moved or disappeared. Jo Ann
