For pet owners, I think the best idea is to have their dogs microchipped
while being spayed/neutered. That is usually at 6 mos., and the dog
doesn't feel a thing. (Of course, if the breeder has already done it,
that's great, too!) Madeleine was microchipped at that time, and I just
had my puppy, Nick, microchipped at that time, too. My vet uses Home
Again. Also, I have my vet scan them once a year to make sure the
microchip is still there.

I had decided to have my cats microchipped, too, even though they are
indoors only "just in case." My cat's vet (cats only clinic) said that
while microchips seem to do well for dogs, they seem to micrate in cats and
often you can't find them. This has happened with her Clinic cats, and
also to several clients' cats. I thought that was odd. Does anyone here
have their cats' microchipped and scanned at a later date to see if they
were still there?
