Hi, Jo Ann and Myra,
        Tbis dicussion reminds me so much of the registration policies that
were in place years ago for Welsh ponies. To do an A.I. breeding, one
had to have DNA blood draws (through Stanford Univ ONLY) on sire, dam
and foal. But........to do any other sort of breeding one had only to
file a written stud cert and breeding cert?
        I thought that really silly! No one was standing pastures watching;
one could theoretically breed any pony to any other and make it up as
they went along. A vet generally came to ultrasound for A.I.; vet was
present during that and could attest to it.

Finally, I guess the registry realized this, as they began to request
DNA hair samples on all breeding animals.
