Ellen,

I have a 7 year old Teddy daughter who was dx'd with a grade 2 murmur at 6.
My cardiologist advised me to spay her as a litter would be too hard on her
heart.

As far as breeding a boy who develops a murmur, well, I'm conflicted about
that. Teddy is now 13 1/2 with severe heart disease. He was dx'd at 4 1/2
so he was neutered after being used only a few times. As it turned out, he
has at least 8 children/grandchildren (that come immediately to mind) who are
heart clear at 5 and older. I would be interested to find out if this is
unusual or if others have had the same experience with the offspring of early
onset dogs.
