Hi Everyone,
I have an 11 year old spayed bitch here (my first cavalier). She recently
has been exhibiting behaviour unaccustomed to her such as going into her
crate in the living room and not wanting to come out (door is always left
open). She eats OK, but when I call her she acts as if she's not sure what
to do. I know she has vision because she walks right to her bowl of food
and can manuever around obstacles.........but yesterday I made microwave
popcorn. this has always been her favorite snack and she'd sit by the
microwave waiting for it to be done. This time she was in her crate and
didn't come out - not even when I tossed her some on the floor to eat. I'm
baffled.
She does not appear to be ill - her bowel functions are all OK as is her
appetite. It's as if she doesn't understand what to do when I speak to
her - sort of not processing the language or something....like she's
confused about what I want of her.
Has anyone else experienced this in their older dogs? she is my oldest and
I've not been to this point before in ownership of a cavalier.
Thank you for any insight........
PamM.
