Anne... In anything you have a genetic potential...you can be anywhere on that scale of potential, either at the top end or bottom depending on your environment...BUT you cannot make a silk purse out of a pig's ear!!!
You cannot nuture superior show type and conformation anymore than create a healthy dog from genetically inferior parents...these things are genetically programed (but environment does have input). I would rather see a novice with a good dog that should be in the ring....they would have an opportunity learn under the right conditions. If they have missed the timing for developing that show attitude...or if they made the CKCS too fat...or if this CKCS is unconditioned...than they will learn... But if the breeders sell beautiful petas a show prospect to that same novice...then they will never learn true type and conformation!!!
