I too have had a puppy that I had to put on amoxycillin with no problem. You want to make sure the puppy is indeed getting enough milk as sometimes they wear themselves out and fill with air and not milk. I have a receipt that I use which puts weight on new borns and they have done very well on it. If you would like the receipt just email me.
If you are bottle feeding a good thing to do is check the amount that the puppy is getting. An 8 oz puppy should be getting around 1 tsp of milk 4 times a day.
