this would depend on the breed. there are many breeds where anything other
than a scissor bite is prohibited.  then there are some standards that do not
mention anything about bites, so technically, anything goes if the judges
even bother to look.

i doubt that there are many akc judges that know about how a cavaliers bite
can change.  in fact i know for a fact that akc judges are not as forgiving
about and undershot dogs where it calls for a scissor bite.  reverse scissor
or level bites are more forgiven on an otherwise beautiful, sound example of
the breed.
