Vet's offices are quoting what sounds like great prices, then hit the people with much higher total bills. Quoting one fee for a spay, then add in anesthesia charges, pre-op charges, post-op charges, supply and material charges, lab work, etc. I always advise people to ask the vet or the front office staff, "What is the TOTAL price I'll be paying when I come to pick up my pet." That way, they don't get whapped upside the head with a HUGE bill when they were assuming that what they were quoted was going to be the total cost.
