When you look at the skin under the freckle or tick spot, it is darker than
the rest of the skin. There is a pigment center that is for red or black
instead of white. This goes for both ticking and freckling. So it seems
common sense that they almost have to be related--doesn't it? I used to
think not since I have dogs with ticking and no freckling. Now that I think
about it though, I don't think I have dogs with freckles that don't have any
ticking though. Some of my dogs with ticking have absolutely none on the
legs, and some have some only on the legs and nowhere else. Maybe it just
may be the luck of the draw as to where the ticking/freckles show up?

Here is another thing I've noticed in my dogs that I'm wondering if anyone
has seen. Not counting heavily marked dogs which may mask ticking--do any
of you have dead clear dogs (with NO freckles or ticking ANYWHERE) who have
double pigmented eyes?
