Sure I think organizations can change as the powers that be within them change. Somehow though, I don't think Ingrid Newkirk just changed her mind regarding her beliefs and philosophies. I do think they've wizened up and realized that most of the money they get comes from people who love their pets (companion animals), and animals in general and it would not be good business sense to put them off, they should try to cater to them. That way they can continue to make a percentage of everything purchased through their Companion Animal Mall. Perhaps you can direct me to the section that explicitly states they support the idea of companion animals now despite those outdated quotes. Or maybe the section that discusses the virtues of reputable breeders for those who choose to share our lives with companion animals. I am not very familiar with their web site but if you can direct me to where I might see that they've changed their position on the matter I'll be happy to keep an open mind until then...
