Thanks to all who replied. I certainly agree with everyone who's advised
not to patronize shops that sell puppies! (I *never* do; I order online,
and occasionally purchase something from a local pet-supply shop which does
not sell animals.) And I always advise everyone who'll listen to do the
same.
But: When I see the occasional post to this list asking someone to check
out a Cav in a petshop - **What does checking it out actually mean???**
Also, Gerri wrote "If they sit there and sit there and no one buys them" -
Does anyone know what happens to puppies that aren't sold? (Are they
euthanized? Sent to puppy mills to breed more?)
And Judy wrote "Work thru your regional and national breed clubs networks.
This is one of the best ways to eliminate the "volume" breeders." Judy, it
sounds like your statement is good advice for other breeders. I'm not a
breeder (and maybe I'm dense here), so if you weren't talking only to other
breeders, would you please let me know if you meant something else that
non-breeders can follow up on?
Thanks,
Alida
