With all due respect, and I do mean this as I think you mean well, I think having Bob Hockberg send out one of his ineffectual letters is a complete waste of time. I have four or five of them in my files and I can assure you that Bob's letters haven't influenced anyone that I am aware of. As I said in a previous post the ONLY way to stop Pet Stores from selling Cavaliers, and hopefully all breeds of dogs, is to EDUCATE THE PUBLIC!! The Set Shop owners tend to be rather unresponsive to polite letters shaming them for carrying Cavaliers, However, in my experience, they do notice when they have someone standing in close proximity to their shop handing out information on the pet store puppy mill connection :) It's not easy garnering this kind of attention .... I've been followed by mall security and had the police called on me , however, we still live in a country where we have the right to free speech and shopping centers are considered public domain regardless of who owns them. Long story short, I've not been arrested yet :)))) It is all of our collective responsibility to educate as many people, in a kind and gentle manner (you do collect more flies with honey than vinegar) as os possible. It will take a great deal of effort and time but it is bound to have a ripple effect like that old commercial for shampoo "I told two friends and they told to friends, and they told two freinds and so on and so on ....IMHO, playing undercover agent isn't the answer, I've have been there and done that. No, the answer is a real committment to effecting a change in how the public comes to view Pet Stores that sell live animals. All the best, Susan V.
