And no doubt the shop owners just file this thing in their "circular file". Cavaliers in pet shops sell at around $1500...and when they are surrounded by breeders who ask $2000+ for puppies, a letter that says the breed is "unprofitable" makes the retailer laugh. <<I have four or five of them in my files and I can assure you that Bob's letters haven't influenced anyone that I am aware of.>> Well, now. Doesn't this speak volumes! I'm surprised there haven't been letters from some of these retailers or from their lawyers threatening legal action for harrassment/restraint of trade...I'm sure Bob knows all about those issues. <VBG> <<As I said in a previous post the ONLY way to stop Pet Stores from selling Cavaliers, and hopefully all breeds of dogs, is to EDUCATE THE PUBLIC!!>> That's just how to have an effect, slow but sure. I recently received an e-mail from someone who bought a puppy over three months ago from Victorian Manor in Indianna. She asked for my help in getting the puppy's paperwork as the breeder was a member of the ACKCSC. I wrote her a very kind letter telling her that her puppy's breeder had never been a member of ACKCSC, and that quite possibly she would have grounds for legal action if her puppy had been represented to her as "AKC-registerable". If her puppy's source is whom I think, this person just changes her last name and sets up business elsewhere. The Continental Kennel Club's letters are "CKCUSA". DUH!
