Thanks, Pam. I really worry about the impression that we give to new people
(especially) in the breed. Such a general statement sounding negative in
such a public forum might just lull someone into thinking showing isn't
important. "Why bother?" I realize you didn't mean to do this and were
probably just expressing some frustration. :-)

With so many new people in this breed, I think we need to be encouraging
them to show and it just happens that AKC has the most venues to do so. I'm
still new enough to wince at some of the roadblocks that seemed to be thrown
in my way when I first started pursuing this dream of mine. I happen to
love showing my Cavaliers, win or lose, so nobody was going to stop me! LOL
Someone else might not be as willing to jump over those obstacles.
Everytime I'm in the ring, it's a learning opportunity for me.

With only having been recognized by AKC a few years ago and with new judges
coming up, I also think we need to be mindful there is always going to be
the need for judges education. It appears to me the parent club is
addressing this issue well with Carol Williams chairing the committee.

"Your right Renee.......that's not where I was coming from..... I'm just
discouraged at how breed type is being ignored in lieu of "other things" or
not recognized due to lack of education. There are politics in both
venues....... :-)"
