Well, I can vouch that it DOES rain in Indy in the summer time :) I've
lived here for 23 years now! Anyway, I didn't want to get into the debate
about this woman, nor her intent as I did not talk to her, nor do I know
her.
HOWEVER....as someone who has very recently, ok, 2 weeks ago, hired an
attorney to fight internet copyright infringement, I urge everyone to be
prepared, if you have photos on the internet, etc, just in case.
I am a webdesigner and I knew well what to do, and to keep this dog related,
yes, I have designed a few cavalier websites and I was in fear for them as
well through my situation.
Basically I am suggesting if you do have photos, be prepared, in case
they do try to say they are their own, even after you contact them. It can
and does happen. Make sure if it is your own digital photo, that you keep
the original, with the original creation date on it. Mine stay in a totally
seperate file on the hard drive. I would do the same with any major updates
or changes to your website. Save a "creation" copy if you can, even on a
floppy or burned onto a CD. If they are scanned pictures, keep the
original, with the date on the back.
Perhaps this sounds like a lot to do, but if it is just something that
you make a habit, it will protect you well down the line. There are many
other little things you can do, and if anyone wants any other suggestions,
please feel free to email me, so I don't clog up the list with info, that
not everyone might want. I am very happy to share.
I hope no one ever has to go through what I did 2 weeks ago. (Granted
mine was a case too that was larger than I and my attorney had ever seen)
I can honestly say, I have never in my life felt the range of feelings, and
numbness that I did that week. It was worse than when someone broke into
and stole my van a few years ago.....that was a feeling of violation, but it
didnt' even come close to comparing to this.
Catch ya later,
Suzann Fine
