< However, since the question of being able to breed to AKC only dogs and
registering those litters is a breeder issue, how exactly does it affect the
pet owner?>

As a pet owner, I would not vote on the issue of allowing CKCSC breeders to
use AKC only stud dogs. Not being a breeder, I don't believe I understand
the issue fully enough (even though I've read *a lot* about it). :o) I
would not vote on anything I did not understand fully, or have a strong
enough opinion about. This includes voting for officers of the Club, etc.
I personally don't care if my pet Cavalier is AKC registered or CKCSC
registered. I just want a healthy pet. And yes, I do want my pet to look
like a Cavalier.

My wish would be that some, not all, breeders, would quit feeling like they
were (for lack of a better word) "better" than pet owners. We pet owners
care very deeply for our pets. This is not to imply that breeders do not
care deeply for their dogs. Why can't we just all get along? I believe
that we all (or most of us) have the common goal of wanting to do what's
best for the breed. I have much respect for breeders, and I, at this point
anyway, have no desire to become a breeder. I do get the impression that
many breeders look down on us pet people. I have no idea why this is.

I have learned much about the breed, health and otherwise, from pet owners
and breeders alike. This list is a very valuable resource to me, and I
appreciate the opportunity to learn from others with different experiences
than I have had.
