Well certainly they do, both here and in the UK. It isn't at all uncommon for breeders up here to ask $2500 plus entire litters back. Even if you ask $2500 plus two puppies back, that comes to a cost for the bitch puppy of at least $6500 if you factor in the cost of the puppies. We've been quoted $3000 and two puppies back for a show prospect bitch puppy up here in our own area. In fact, the breeder wasn't even asking for two puppies back from the puppy she had bred. She wanted two puppies back from our Ace of Base daughter. (We said no, incidentally.) The same breeder "offered" us a male show prospect lately for $2000 in cash, plus two free breedings to our boys. Since we ask $750 to use them, that would have come to an asking price of $3500....and this was for a black and tan puppy with a white spot on his chest that wouldn't close over in the future. Myra
