I'm looking for suggestions on footing for the dogs runs. We have to redo
them this year and I would appreciate any suggestions or others experiences
with what to use.
We have dry summers, very little rain, but lots of snow in the winter and
pretty messy conditions in the spring when it thaws.
I've tried grass but found poop scooping difficult; tried clay base with
sand but this carried into the dogs room and was not good for their coats.
We've tried wood bark as I'd seen it in someone else's place but I found
that quite unsanitary once it has been soaked with urine. I'm thinking
maybe I'll put concrete in but have heard that the dogs coats get stained.
That won't do but was wondering if I graded the runs away from the house
whether that would eliminate that problem. I can't really afford to put
those interlocking squares on top of the concrete I don't think as I have
very large runs.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks a bunch.
