Jan...

Just a couple suggestions to look at for food for thought...

Try acupuncture to releave the muscle trimus (spasms)...the spasm that "lock
the jaw" is usually the Masseter muscle due to overclosure of the
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ)...this overclosure could be secondary to the
removal of the mandibular canines. This would get the appearance of reduced
vertical dimension of the relationship of the upper to the lower jaw...like
how the eldery look when they have worn dentures for years (the side of the
mouth droop in). Remember the canine teeth is human are our corner stone of
beauty in our face...without this we do get some collapse of our face.

Or it could be auto-immune related and this might still response from a
course of acupuncture...

Or you can traumatize the TMJ during the extractions by placing pressure on
the lower jaw...anyone that has experienced their third molars removed most
likely remember the tightness among opening.

I am concern regarding the swollen lymph in the submandibluar area...this is
a primary node for this area. Check for infection...especially of the bone.
Does the puppy have a temperature??? Or it could be swollen from an
auto-immune reaction or from the secondary trauma from the extraction.

Write down all the meds that has been given to the puppy and reference for
side effects.

Good luck...this puppy is in my thoughts!!!

Take care,
