Well I'm confused. The first line of CKCSUSA code of ethics states....

"I believe that the welfare of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed is of
paramount
importance. It supersedes any other commitment to Cavaliers, whether that be
personal,
competitive, or financial. Therefore I agree to act in accordance with the
following Code of Ethics at all times..."

and many of the old club members feel that not allowing AKC only dogs to be
used in a breeding program is contradictory to the welfare of the breed.
Then the last paragraph in the code of ethics states...

"It is recognized that legitimate exceptions to this Code of Ethics may
arise from time to
time. In such cases, any member may request that the problem be reviewed by
the
President, or the President's designee(s), who will make a recommendation to
the Board
of Directors. Furthermore, in certain cases, with sufficient evidence, and
under conditions
where the welfare of the breed is assured, the Board of Directors may waive
any of the
foregoing provisions. "

So if any member may request this problem to be reviewed, which I would
venture to guess has been done, then why is this still an issue? Are the
requests, if any, being ignored? What if the membership, as a whole, who
wanted to see AKC only dogs allowed into a breeding program got together and
brought this issue forward might it be taken more seriously? Maybe I'm just
dense?

Terrie:)
