Hi, Annette,
I ALWAYS thank the judge; even through gritted teeth. I almost always
learn something win or lose and whether it is my "lesson" or the lesson
of someone else.
I won't show to this judge again (and maybe not to another in the same
category) but mostly because she didn't look at the dogs, was rough on
my young puppy and actually slapped one puppy in the face (not mine...at
another show venue) when it curiously licked a button on her shirt. She
is clearly uninterested in the dogs, but very much in the production of
good handlers.

There are some like that over here. The juniors are so highly competitve
here that I almost think it unhealthy. But my original point was that
most judges do put up the dogs who they feel have merit. They may be
wrong in the eyes of others......there is "style" as well as type to
consider.....I rarely second guess the average or above average judges
these days.

My policy is not to give entries to judges who are rough, rude, refuse
to learn the breed standard or in anyway make this otherwise pleasant
hobby unpleasant. MY part of that bargain is to try to present my dog
as the breed standard permits in the best possible light. I do no more
and no less (though on certain days......GEEZ I feel like I could have
done a lot better!)
