< I have a prospective puppy buyer who also has a hampster as a pet. This pet is caged but also is out of its cage for petting and cuddling.>
I have a bird, and I don't feel like it's really fair to my bird to have to live with my dogs and cats. I trust my cats with the bird more than the dogs. My bird is a parrotlet (a small parrot), and will live at least 20 years. I love my bird, but if I had it to do over again, I would not have gotten her. It's just not fair, because she can only be out of her cage when she's with me. She's 7 years old now, so we have a lot of time left together! Parrots are very affectionate and need to be with their people (who they consider their flock) just as dogs and cats do. I know a hamster is not the same thing, but I would not trust a Cavalier with a hamster. How long do hamsters live? Maybe they could plan for the dog later. I have a feeling the hamster would end up very neglected. Carol Richards [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.geocities.com/carolscavaliers/ "My little dog, a heartbeat at my feet."
