OK - so England doesn't require their pups to be permanently identified before being shipped out of the country, apparently. That is fine. Others, apparently Sweden and Holland for sure, require their puppies to be permanently identified before being sold - to anyone - SO - they much be identified (and the primary choice is chipping) before being shipped out and that information documented on their export papers -- then, because that chip cannot be read here, we have to re-chip the pup here before sending the paperwork to AKC. It was a bit frustrating to me - as I learned along the way - that the chips were not 'universal' -but - it is a relatively small price to pay, in my opinion, to have the 2nd chip implanted - and a brief discomfort to the pup - Justine cried out when they injected her, but was just fine seconds later -
