It's interesting what people put in stud contracts. Many Cavlaier people don't even use them, but they are expected by virtually everyone in other breeds. Some stud contracts require the stud dog owner be able to approve homes for puppies, some require all puppies sold/let go be done so on spay/neuter agreements and/or limited registration. It can run the gammet of a number of stipulations - I've even heard one breeder that says nothing is to be sold to another breeder . . . . The whole issue is how much you want to use the dog and if both stud dog owner and bitch owner agree to all the terms. I've found that the most of the time a verbal agreement that both parties are comfortable with is easiest and has never dissapointed me. However, as the breed becomes more popular, more and more people breed and more strangers inquire about stud dog use, I can see more breeders beginning to use stud contracts with possibly more stipulations.
