It's interesting what people put in stud contracts.  Many Cavlaier people
don't even use them, but they are expected by virtually everyone in other
breeds.  Some stud contracts require the stud dog owner be able to approve
homes for puppies, some require all puppies sold/let go be done so on
spay/neuter agreements and/or limited registration.  It can run the gammet
of a number of stipulations - I've even heard one breeder that says nothing
is to be sold to another breeder  . . . .  The whole issue is how much you
want to use the dog and if both stud dog owner and bitch owner agree to all
the terms.  I've found that the most of the time a verbal agreement that
both parties are comfortable with is easiest and has never dissapointed me.
However, as the breed becomes more popular, more and more people breed and
more strangers inquire about stud dog use, I can see more breeders beginning
to use stud contracts with possibly more stipulations.
