Actually I think it is all genetics in regards to what a dog's coat is going to look like after being spayed or neutered. I have 5 oldies in my house (between 10 1/2 and 13 1/2) and some have good coat texture and one has a horrible coat texture - she looks like a sheep (and she was not spayed until 3 years old!). They have all been on Wysong for 6 1/2 years so 'premium" foods or BARF diets to me are not the cause. When you alter hormones on animals or humans - you can expect a change. Luckily for humans the technology industry has a pill/patch as a replacement. Animals just have to suffer the consequences. I have seen enough puppies I have placed over the years where they have been neutered a little too early in my eyes - at around 4-6 months. These dogs almost always are a 1-2 inches taller than their unaltered siblings and will end up about 4-8 lbs heavier as they mature. Barb Hoorman Benchmark Cavaliers - TX

(I'm sure there are other factors, of course.) I'll soon enter my 3rd year feeding a barf diet and have just one neutered male so I don't have experience with numbers, but I wouldn't be surprised if diet is the reason his coat is so silky (not the brillo-coat I've seen on so many others). When I've asked, I've learned those others' owners (without exception) feed their dogs commercial foods like Eukanuba or Science Diet or the like. (My guess is that high-quality commercial foods like Canidae might give better results?) It might be interesting to ask your pet people what they've been feeding? >> ========================================================= "Magic Commands": to stop receiving mail for awhile, click here and send the email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20NOMAIL to start it up gain click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20MAIL E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] for assistance.
