I have a 6 yr. old ruby boy, who was neutered at 3 yrs. of age. He developed an undercoat and a more coarse coat after being neutered. His mother is not neutered, his father was neutered at age 5 and has a perfect coat. Their food is a holistic kibble. I do agree that alot has to do with genes. I think they keep their hair longer, (esp. the spayed bitches, who no longer shed with seasons).
