I wish some of the bitches I've had here for breeding would come into season as often
as the ones you're talking about.
I've had 2 bitches come, one by car and one by air...both were "due" momentarily.
The first bitch stayed for a couple of months and never came in, so her owner took her
home and she came in a day or two later, and has since had a litter. The second was
here for 8 or 9 months (trouble with shipping, etc.) and NEVER came in...a couple of
times we thought she was starting, but no, she
wasn't. Finally she, too, went home, and I haven't heard if she came into season or
not.
Both these bitches were proven bitches. I had them running with my in-season
bitches, too...I've had a litter in the meantime, and my stud dogs had other bitches
come and go...those two girls never came in while they were here. I even spent my own
money having my vet check them - he thought I was
crazy, but I swear, neither bitch came in while they were staying here.
The first bitch was a little spoiled, that is, she let it be known that she was
supposed to be with her owner...while she was happy, it was really obvious to me that
she knew she didn't "belong" here--and she'd never been away from her breeder/owner
before, so that could have had something to do with
it. The second bitch, however, had been sent away to be bred before, and had also
been out with more than one handler, so she was used to being away from home. She
truly thought she lived here, in fact, I'm sure she was not too happy to leave.
But no seasons.....................!
    Any comments?
