Hi list, I just have to respond to the frequent and popular comments that indicate that non-doggy people and "just pet" owners are stupid because they are not familiar with all the numerous AKC and other registry breeds. I think we're being a little "knowingly than thou" here. Why would any of you expect pet owners and/or prospective-never-had-a-dog-before owners to know all the breed names. I've been in conformation showing for nearly thirty years and still can't get all the terriers and many of the toys straight. Does that make me stupid? I don't think so. Maybe ignorant, or a selective learner (I learn what is important to me) but definitely not stupid. And as far as the woman that wanted a "sweater" dog, that's how I remember the difference between a Cardigan and Pembroke - long tail=sleeves on a Cardigan. This lady just forgot the whole memory trick.
If you're being condenscending and/or insulting to those who would want to add a Cavalier to their family merely because they have a hard time remembering all 4 words of the Cavalier's breed name, you may be driving a perfectly wonderful prospective home to a pet shop or backyard breeder. Not exactly fair to them or our breed IMHO.
