Also, a judge may dismiss a dog for lack of merit. Poor grooming doesn't
usually constitute lack of merit. I'd show the dog if I were you, if you think
he's otherwise competitive. Most judges won't notice, and if you are lucky
enough to have a judge who says something to you about it, you can say something
about your kids doing it, or whatever...since most judges would probably prefer
that you did your own grooming.
Of course, not everyone does a stellar grooming job...which is how the dog's
feet were trimmed in the first place, right? And we have dogs all around the
country who are winning very nicely, thank you, and who are always
trimmed...feet is the least of it on some of them!
