Home Depot sells something specifically made to protect screen
doors from dogs. They're grills that are installed (easily screwed)
over the bottom half of the door. They come in various sizes for
different doors, so you need to have the door width when you buy.
They're very inexpensive and work very well.

Hi,

I have used the pet grilles and have found that they can rip the screening
behind the grill but the grilles themselves are very sturdy and do not
collapse when a herd of dogs descends upon them. But I have to admit that
MY screens are shredded behind them. They are looking pretty nasty at this
point and I have used 2 grilles one on top of the other to accomodate the
jumping dogs that hit the doors running and bounce off of them to push them
open.
