I bought a piece of metal at Lowe's that just fits over the bottom half of the screen door. It comes in brass or silver finish, is fairly hard metal, and is full of holes for ventilation. No way for the little darlings to scratch through it, or even bend it. Since one of my puppies tore the screen and one of those tiny pieces of wire stuck into its eye, I ripped out the screens on both ends of my sunporch. Rosanne
