We don't warrantee for 'all' genetic problems. We don't warrantee for the life of the dog. We don't warrantee for patellae problems because they can and do happen because of accidents. We don't warrantee for eye issues because the pups are cleared by an opthamologist before they are placed. We cannot predict that something will happen to their eyes in the future. Our dogs are CERFed, that is the best we can do on eyes. We feel that our breeding program has been carefully planned to avoid "early onset MVD", not MVD in general. I just don't feel that there is a way to do that. Early onset, maybe yes,....MVD in general, no. We feel that by having OFA certificates on our breeding animals, we can stand behind their hips. So, if our pup is diagnosed by two specialists with MVD or HD in the first year, we return the price of the pup, so that the owners can apply that money to the medical care of the pup. If it is within the second year, we return half of the purchase price, and if it is within the third year, we return 25% of the purchase price. In all cases, they can keep the puppy or have the option of returning it to us, and we have set ourselves up here so that we can keep a few puppies who may be returned to us and let them live out their lives right here. We have a little sentence that says some like in the case of other genetic diseases, we can negotiate some sort of help, but it is intentionally vague because genetic disorders are often times simply not predictable, and only our responsibility if we have knowingly bred those dogs, which of course, we aren't. We feel that a warrantee of this sort gives us some protection against breaking the bank, but it also gives the puppy buyer some protection as well. All of our breedings are planned for the show ring, but all of our puppies don't turn out as show dogs, so we try to plan ahead for both. Myra
