Pat Hastings described type as being able to know a dog was a specific breed
without question if you a) saw only the silhouette of the body and b) saw only
it's head above a privacy fence.

I think that while the standards in each country accurately describes what the
properties of a typical Cavalier head should look like we as individuals each
interpret it differently. This is where style comes into play. To elaborate take
for example the color blue, we all know what that looks like. Look around your
house and I'll bet you can find at least 10 different kinds of blue. Some will be
deeper or darker or brighter or lighter, but they'd all be blue. None of them
however would be going more towards green or towards violet because that is not
exactly blue now is it. Now apply that same example to Cavaliers. Think of a CH
Salador dog, a CH Homerbrent dog, a CH Lymrey dog and an CH Elvenhome dog. They
all look different in certain aspects but they are all undoubtedly Cavaliers and
each of them possesses the same properties that make a Cavalier a Cavalier and
none look a little more like a beagle or a Charlie.
