> Style is different, and I think you are talking about style. OK, so which head style is correct? Which dogs do you think have the most correct head style today? How much topskull and/or backskull is too much or too little? How much *cush* do we want to see? Anybody willing to say which heads they consider the *best* today? (Might be a good idea to go by pictures in Yearbooks so others can compare since a lot of people may not have seen these dogs in real.) If you are going to mention a particular dog--please mention why you think that head is great!
How about body style? Let's consider angulation. It is generally thought that good rear angulation means that when dog is standing 4 square and hocks to paws are perpendicular to the ground--it you continue a line straight up from there it will be behind the base of the tail. Yet many (most?) Cavaliers today are not that angulated. Same for fronts. I would say most of the Cavaliers today have poor fronts lacking angulation. To me poor angulation produces a *style* that is somewhat *stuffy* looking with a short neck. This is a style that wins quite consistently today however. Maybe because it emphasizes the appearance of a *compact* dog? Or could there be another reason? What style body do you consider best? How about amount of bone? What is the correct style today? Do we still want good bone or are there some who think many Cavaliers today have too much bone? And last, how different should a bitch style be from a dog style? Do you like a dog to be slightly more masculine or a lot more masculine than a bitch? Do you like their heads to be easily distinguished as different or do you want both to have a somewhat similar head with the bitch being just more feminine looking assuming heads are in proportion to their bodies?
