Marilyn, check with the installer. There is an noise abated upgraded underlayment that you put down with the Pergo and it does cut down the noise. Of course, it is noisier than carpet, but not bad at all. The Pergo we just put down is 100% nicer than the Pergo we had put down in the elder care facility five years ago. However, these laminate floors are much harder on my feet than carpeting was, and a lot colder. Myra
