Try to find a breeder who breeds only 2.5 year old dogs whose parents are still heart clear at age 5 or older. The clearances should be by a cardiologist prior to breeding and up dated yearly. Eyes examined by opthamologists with knees and hips checked by vet. Check out www.ckcsc.org for further questions to ask breeders. Hope this helps.
