Amen to that, Winnie! Not long ago I was at a show, waiting by ringside for my
class. Along comes a well-known handler who had two Cavaliers in tow, one a
Special. There was a small grooming table right there, left temporarily by
another toy breed handler. The Cav handler asks me whose table that is, and I
tell her it belongs to another handler who must be in the ring. She hoists the
Specials dog up on the table and when it's her turn, goes into the ring. The
dog sat there calmly waiting for her, but I could not help but think that this
very valuable dog could have been taken right off that table. A horrible
thought. It's not the first time I've seen that, either. No way would I leave
a dog of mine alone at a show where it could be vulnerable to thieves or
worse.
