Hey Folks - yes, bad things happen to good people - and people have had
a dog stolen at a show - it has happened - but MOST of the people at
shows are HONEST folks! Most of the people, exhibitors and spectators
alike, would not / do not take other people's dogs / equipment /
belongings -- they just do not -
Yes, it behooves all of us to take reasonable precautions, put your
purse out of sight, put your grooming supplies / leashes, etc. inside
your tack box / grooming bag when you are going to be away from your
crate / grooming area - ie. going into the ring -
It is very common for someone to 'borrow' someone's comb / pin brush /
whatever, then not remember exactly where they picked it up, so return
it to the incorrect table - so it is 'gone' -
Ok - so if it wasn't theirs, they should not have used it, but ... that
sort of thing does happen - so neaten up, put your stuff away when you
leave your area -

I've shown for over 20 years now - and in that time I've seen / heard
about things happening - but considering the volume of people involved
in the MANY shows I've attended, it is amazing how LITTLE of that goes
on --

Now I HAVE seen while cleaning up after a show TONS of stuff left behind
- the handler / owner forgot about it, forgot where they left it,
whatever - but there are MANY towels (some the expensive 'sponge'
towels), NICE leashes / show leads, ribbons (some blue ones!), spritzer
bottles -

Rather than focusing on the rare theft & danger to our dogs - I'd much
rather see a focus on being a RESPONSIBLE dog owner - having EVERYONE
pick up after their dogs! At the motel! At the show site!
Folks - these show sites are a MESS after several days of showing - it
starts on the first day, and by the 3rd or 4th or more ... it is just
amazing ... Please folks - be responsible - pick up after your dog(s)
when you travel / show!!!
