The situation of not being able to use AKC dogs for breeding has nothing to
do with concern about health testing or even the gene pool and everything to
do with developing an ideology that perpetuates the old club. Pitting the
CKCSC against the AKC produces prejudice of one group against another group
in an "I win, you lose" situation. This prejudice creates in-group
solidarity and helps to ensure that the CKCSC survives as a club even though
it is no longer necessary for registration of Cavaliers.

Talking about the CKCSC allowing its members to use AKC dogs and vice versa
is useless. It will never happen. It is not in the old club's best interest
to do this.

All the best,
Susan Cochran
