Come to think of it Susan.....When the AKC reps have visiting the cavalier breeders up in this area, they have said that if they have more than 20 dogs on the premises, they must be chipped or tatooed and if they are chipped, there must be a scanner on the premises. You are right. They don't make it a requirement for general registration, but they will want to see proof of it if they do a kennel visit. Myra
