Dear Sharona: You wrote: "I have listened to the comments about co-q-10 and did have Jelly Bean on it for a short period of time before she died. She had some side effects with the pill, diarrhea - did anyone else have that problem with the co-q-10?"
My advice to you would be to check out our Canadian National/Regional Club website: http://www.candog.com/cavaliers Go to the fourth blue bar. This will take you to our health related articles. Scroll down to the Heart articles; specifically: Management of Congestive Heart Failure. This article discusses the different "families" of drugs used for heart therapy. Based on personal experience, when we used "Digoxin" (an agent used for cardiac contractility), our dog did experience diarrhea. Two things can be done: 1) increase fibre (ie shredded wheat, pumpkin) and/or reduce the doseage of digoxin. You didn't mention the medications your dog was receiving (other than Co-Q10). I mention this in case your dog received this drug.
