It could be a reaction to the first puppy shot if it was Dapp-Ccv by Merial. all of mine reacted to this in one litter, literally within 3 hours of the shot. I had not altered anything in their enviroment or food. My vet gave a small white tablet for 5 days, twice a day.I forgot the name of the medicine but can find out if you want me to. It worked for me.
I now give all my shots at home except rabies and yes, I poked myself a few times because I was afraid of hurting the puppy.:) My vet in Oregon had me put my puppy on just plain white rice for a couple of days when my puppy got diarrhea from liver bait at a handling class that the instructor was using to teach with. Switching foods frequently can continue the loose stool. Maybe trying Nutro Natural lambmeal & rice puppy food will work. I switch mine to Nutro adult natural lamb & rice at 6 months. I add slices of fresh garlic,broccolli, and carrots with breakfast meal. I have shiny coats, and no skin problems. Slightly cooked beef or chicken liver or chicken breast once a week. Date: Tuesday, September 03, 2002 8:47 AM Subject: [CKCS-L] puppy help Hi List, I have a pet owner who is having a problem wth her puppy having diarrhea. At about 10-11 weeks he developed diarrhea. They took him to the vet who did a fecal exam and they found a mild bacterial infection. The bacterial infection cleared upbut he still had loose bowel movements. I suggested changing food which they have done several times. I also suggested the hamburger and rice for a few days thinking that it might just be an irritated bowel but that doesn't seem to stop the problem either. I understand it is not totally runny stools but softer stools than normal. The vet has run out of suggestions except that maybe they should prepare his food themselves. Fecal exams are negative. The puppy is not showing any signs of allergy, no runny eyes, no itching. weight gain is good, and he's bright and active. It has the vet puzzled and it has me puzzled. Any suggestions? Solutions?
