Hi,
Perhaps an interesting topic to be discussed would be the following.
I recently had a family member get down on the floor while my puppies were
playing and barking at one another. This person got down on all fours and
barked at them which produced a started look on the puppies and caused my
older dogs to rush at him barking all the way. When I expressed my
displeasure and tried to explain that this was a very threatening action and
could impact negatively on the socialization of puppies I was accused of
being overly protective and not knowing what I was talking about.
Unfortunately, my puppies hesitated and then ran over to this person and
proceded to lick. In spite of that, I don't think that the fact that these
particular puppies did not run away would indicate that this is generally
appropriate behavior.
This is deliberately vague because I would like to hear some opinions from
list members on this type of action, etc. I am honestly not looking for
people to agree with me and would like to hear opinions on both sides of the
issue.
Thanks,
Phyllis
