May I vent? So, my neighbor takes Max (the 2-yr-old
pet beagle) to the vet (at PetsMart) because her ears
are SOOO bad. Remember, Teddy was banned from playing
with Max because she *allegedly* bit Max's ear during
play and caused an ear infection (to the tune of a
$100+ vet bill). Teddy was allowed to play with Max
again once the infection had cleared, and 2-3 days
later, marks appeared again on Max's ears. So, I
posted to this list, and I joined two beagle lists to
learn more about Beagle ears. I expressed intense
concern for Max, told my neighbor about posting to the
list, and that the responses suggested that it was
highly unlikely that Teddy had caused Max's ear
problems. I also gave her a list of things to have
the vet rule out: ear canker, ear mites, yeast
infection, etc. Max went to the vet today, and the
vet decided (after keeping Max ALL day) that it is a
yeast infection -- CAUSED by Teddy *licking* Max's
ears. Not biting mind you, just licking.

A few days ago on the list I said I was going to offer
to pay half of her original vet bill (as a few of you
suggested), but hadn't taken the opportunity to make
the offer, especially since I was hoping we could rule
out Teddy as the CAUSE. I also was a bit worried that
I'd set a precedent that every time Max had any
ailment, I'd be told that it was because of Teddy and
I'd get a vet bill. (She does this with our kids too
-- if her kids do something wrong when playing with my
kids, it's my kids' fault.) Maybe I'll just move.
Kris Hassig: any houses out in the western suburbs?

So, I promised I'd post to the list asking if there is
a way to PREVENT an ear yeast infection, like maybe
something she can add to Max's diet?

Mostly, I just wanna vent.

can't get in ANY trouble with beagles)
