Hi
This is what I like about the list it makes me confirm what I have in my mind
American - hair on feet short but tufts may appear on toes and grow beyond them
growing to a point
British -the same
Canadian-the same
However I have read all standards and it doesn't say' the feet may be or must be or
can be trimmed
The absence of direction tells me that they shouldn't be trimmed.
as a professional handler I showed a very famous pap for Clarice Babbige called
Jaclair Ziggi and they would have fired me if I had trimmed one hair.
It is not a disqualification but the Cavalier standard doesn't have trimming as a DQ
either.
The cavalier people that shaped the breed and developed the standard were smart enough
to put the no trimming into the standard.
I had to go back to the books on this one.

  Hi Elaine,

Papillons are another breed I am fascinated with, even went to their National a few
years ago. I have numerous books
on the breed (haven't read them in a couple of years though) and for the life of me
can not remember seeing anything
about them not being trimmed. I know the standard calls for a hare's foot shape
which allows for tufts at the tips if
desired. Is this something that is only in the Canadian standard?

Always looking to learn something new,
  Terrie:)
