People aren't shunning anything because it's written in Clojure. I think that reinventing all that Maven can do, all of the IDE support, tools, documentation etc is misdirected effort. Especially given the appearance of polyglot Maven (Maven 3), which is Maven recast as a Java library that can be driven by languanges such as Clojure.
