I'm in the same boat.  And "SOON" seems to have lasted a while now.  I'm
pretty sure it's been over a month.

That's pretty typical with Linux though.  Samba says the same thing about
v3.  It'll get released when it's ready.  Ditto the 2.6 Kernel.

It frustration waiting for the release better than frustration after the
install?  I think so.  But it would be nice to know their target timeline,
even if it wasn't fixed, they could say "We need to finish X and Y.  We
expect X to take 1 week, and Y to take 3 days.  Since both can be developed
concurrently, we hope to release it on Oct 26, but please understand that
this is not a firm ship date.  If you would like to assist with the
development, it is possible that we could ship slightly sooner."

Seems like the big question of the month. I'm holding off on converting a
server from Redhat to Gentoo until the 1.4 release. Did a search today and
nobody has any definitive dates except for SOON.
