If your computer is as old as mine, you might NEED to use a Stage 1.  As I
remember it, the Stage 2 & especially the Stage 3 installs were designed for
the I686es.  Which means a Pentium Pro or above.  My machine is an original
Pentium, so I needed to do everything from the Stage 1.
